Vaccinations & SIDS

MDs say Crib Death or SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) is caused by babies sleeping on their stomachs. They started the "Back to Sleep" campaign to teach parents to place their children on their backs.

Babies have been sleeping on their stomachs for an eternity and there was no (or barely any) crib death.

"'Crib death' was so infrequent in the pre-vaccination era that it was not even mentioned in the statistics, but it started to climb in the 1950s with the spread of mass vaccination." Harris L. Coulter, PhD (medical historian).

MDs are taught to never, ever criticize vaccination.  Some brave souls refused to be silenced. One was the famed pediatrician Robert Mendelsohn, MD.: "My suspicion, which is shared by others in my profession, is that the nearly 10,000 SIDS deaths that occur in the U.S. each year are related to one or more of the vaccines that are routinely given to children."

They said the "Back to Sleep" campaign was a success.  In the May 2005 issue of Pediatrics: Changes in the Classification of Sudden Unexpected Infant Deaths: United States, 1992-2001 by Malloy MH, MacDorman M. (Pediatrics. 2005;115(5)1247-1253) the authors write: "Since the first recommendations for supine placement of infants to prevent SIDS in 1992, SIDS postneonatal mortality rates declined 55% between 1992 and 2001." Sounds good, doesn't it? But...

But they found something very interesting when they looked more closely at the data: "For the period from 1999 to 2001 there was no significant change in the overall postneonatal mortality rate, whereas the postneonatal SIDS rate declined by 17.4%. Concurrent increases in postneonatal mortality rates for unknown and unspecified causes and suffocation account for 90% of the decrease in the SIDS rate between 1999 and 2001." In other words, they just changed the diagnosis: "...the falling SIDS rate is a result of changes in certifier practices...deaths that in previous years might have been certified as SIDS are now certified to other non-SIDS causes."

In 1975, when Japan raised the minimum age of vaccination from 2 months to 2 years, crib death, infantile seizures, meningitis and other infectious diseases in infants virtually disappeared. Japan went from 17th in infant mortality to 1st (lowest in the world). However, now they got a whole new crop of neurologically damaged two year olds (meningitis, etc.).

As Robert Mendelsohn, MD said: "Pediatricians continue to defend vaccination to the death. The question parents should be asking is, 'Whose death?'"
